Philosophy and Bio
Shared Insight Counseling is based upon the belief that we both contribute to your wellness. You carry your own inner wisdom, have the answers within yourself, and my job is to simply elicit that wisdom. I also believe healing from past pain is possible through a meaningful therapeutic relationship. This occurs by creating a safe and supportive environment where you can be your authentic self.
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor who started working with individuals and couples in 2013. I have a B.A. in Psychology, a M.S. in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling, and a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies. I have received extensive training in the areas of couples counseling, trauma-informed care, family systems, and attachment theory. I have many years of experience working with adults with diverse life experiences including members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
I love working with couples. My couples work is based upon the Gottman Method (Level 2 trained), Attachment Theory, and includes a sex-positive approach. I also have experience working with individuals who practice consensual nonmonogamy.
I'm a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (do you have unmet career goals?) and am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I have experience in academia and almost 10 years working in a non-profit agency.
